Hikvision NVR
Hikvision NVR Recorders for Professional Camera Security
Hikvision NVR recorders serve as the central recording and management platform within professional IP camera systems. At JBN Security Systems, you’ll find Hikvision network video recorders for a wide range of installations, from compact 4-channel systems to extensive 32- and 64-channel security solutions.
Depending on the model, Hikvision NVRs feature integrated PoE ports, multiple SATA connections, support for high camera resolutions, and intelligent video features such as AcuSense, AcuSearch, and AcuSeek.
Which Hikvision NVR do you need?
The right recorder isn’t determined solely by the number of cameras. For a professional installation, you’ll need to consider factors such as:
- number of camera channels;
- PoE or connection via a separate network switch;
- maximum incoming bandwidth;
- maximum camera resolution;
- number of SATA ports;
- Maximum HDD capacity;
- desired retention period;
- AI capabilities of the recorder and camera.
The Hikvision product line includes recorders with 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 channels, among others.
Hikvision NVR with PoE
A Hikvision NVR with an integrated PoE switch allows compatible IP cameras to be connected directly to the recorder. Both data and power are supplied via a single network cable.
This makes installation simple and straightforward, especially for small and medium-sized camera systems.
For larger projects, however, an NVR without built-in PoE combined with separate PoE switches may be a more attractive option. This provides greater flexibility in network configuration, distance, and scalability.
AcuSense, AcuSearch, and AcuSeek
Depending on the model, modern Hikvision NVR series feature advanced AI functionality.
AcuSense helps distinguish people and vehicles from less relevant movements, thereby reducing the number of false alarms.
AcuSearch enables targeted searches of recorded video footage for people and vehicles.
The latest VPro recorders also feature AcuSeek, which enables even faster and more targeted searches of video footage. Hikvision has integrated such features, for example, into recent K-series VPro recorders. JBN Security
Storage Capacity of a Hikvision NVR
When selecting a recorder, storage capacity is just as important as the number of camera channels.
The required hard drive capacity is determined, among other things, by:
- number of cameras;
- resolution;
- bitrate;
- frames per second;
- H.265/H.265+ compression;
- continuous recording or event-triggered recording;
- desired retention period.
JBN Security can help you calculate the required HDD capacity for, say, 14, 21, or 28 days of recording.
