Ajax Baseline Fire Detection
Ajax Baseline Fire Alarms for Smoke, Heat, and CO Detection
With Ajax Baseline fire detection, an Ajax security system can be expanded to include detection of smoke, elevated temperatures, and—depending on the model chosen—carbon monoxide.
Within this category, you’ll find various versions of the Ajax FireProtect 2. This allows you to choose, on a project-by-project basis, which detection technologies and power supply methods best suit the application.
JBN Security Systems supplies Ajax fire detectors to professional security installers, system integrators, and business partners.
Ajax FireProtect 2
FireProtect 2 represents the current generation of fire detectors in the Ajax wireless product line.
Depending on the model, a single detector can combine various forms of fire and hazard detection. The JBN Security lineup includes models designed for, among other things:
- heat;
- smoke and heat;
- heat and carbon monoxide;
- smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide.
This allows an installer to determine which detection method is most suitable for each room. The current JBN product line includes all of these different combinations.
Smoke Detection
Models with smoke detection monitor the presence of smoke in the room.
These detectors can be used in rooms where smoke formation can be an important early indicator of a fire. By combining smoke detection with temperature detection, various characteristics of a developing fire can be monitored.
Which model is suitable depends on the type of room and the requirements of the security project.
Heat Detection
Not every space is ideally suited for traditional smoke detection.
For such applications, the FireProtect 2 series also includes models designed for temperature and heat detection. For example, JBN offers a FireProtect 2 RB Heat model without smoke detection.
This gives installers more options for tailoring the detection method to the conditions in the space.
Carbon Monoxide Detection
Several FireProtect 2 models also feature a CO sensor for carbon monoxide detection.
Carbon monoxide is invisible and odorless. With a suitable detector, the presence of elevated carbon monoxide concentrations can be monitored in addition to fire detection.
The product line includes combinations featuring Heat/CO and Heat/Smoke/CO.
FireProtect 2 AC
The AC models of FireProtect 2 are intended for installations where the detector is connected to a fixed power source.
JBN Security offers AC models with, among other features, Heat/Smoke and Heat/Smoke/CO detection, available in white and black finishes.
This allows the installer to choose a power supply solution that suits the building and the system.
FireProtect 2 RB
RB stands for Replaceable Battery. The batteries in these models can be replaced.
Several detection combinations are available within this series, including Heat, Heat/CO, Heat/Smoke, and Heat/Smoke/CO. JBN offers various RB models in both white and black.
These models are ideal when battery power is desired, but the batteries must remain replaceable throughout the detector’s service life.
FireProtect 2 SB
The SB models utilize a built-in battery system.
Various combinations for smoke, heat, and CO detection are also available within this series.
This means that when designing an Ajax system, you can consider not only the type of detection but also the desired power supply method.
Wireless Integration within Ajax
FireProtect 2 can be integrated into a compatible Ajax system. This allows alerts and the status of detectors to be managed centrally within the Ajax environment.
This is particularly useful when fire detection is combined with other Ajax components, such as intrusion detection, motion detectors, magnetic contacts, and sirens.
Compatibility depends on the selected FireProtect model and the Ajax hub used and must therefore be verified for each installation.
Which Ajax Fire Detector Should You Choose?
The correct FireProtect 2 model depends on the application.
When making your selection, it’s wise to consider:
- desired smoke detection;
- desired heat detection;
- need for CO detection;
- type of room;
- AC or battery power;
- replaceable or built-in battery;
- Ajax hub used;
- project and regulatory requirements.
This means that the exact same detector does not need to be used in every room, and fire detection can be better tailored to the specific situation.
Fire Detection and Project Requirements
In professional projects, it is important to distinguish between a fire detector as part of a security system and a complete, certified fire alarm system.
Which standards, certifications, and installation regulations apply depends on the building and the project. A FireProtect 2 detector therefore does not automatically make an installation a certified fire alarm system.
For projects with specific fire safety requirements, always verify which regulations and certifications are required.
