Ajax Water Detection and WaterStop for Leak Prevention
With Ajax water detection, a security system can be expanded to include protection against water leaks.

Ajax LeaksProtect
Ajax LeaksProtect is a compact wireless leak detector for indoor use.
Water-sensitive contacts are located on the underside. As soon as at least one pair of contacts gets wet, LeaksProtect sends an alarm notification to the Ajax hub. The system can also detect when the detector is dry again.
LeaksProtect can be installed, for example, near:
- kitchen appliances;
- bathrooms;
- utility rooms;
- heating systems;
- pipes;
- water heaters;
- other locations where leaks are possible.
The detector does not need to be permanently armed: Ajax states that LeaksProtect continuously monitors for leaks, regardless of whether the security system is armed or disarmed.
Ajax WaterStop
Ajax WaterStop is a smart motorized shut-off valve that can be used to open or close the water supply within an Ajax system.
WaterStop can be controlled via the Ajax app, locally at the valve, or automatically through pre-set scenarios. A compatible Ajax hub is required for operation within the Ajax system.
The current JBN Security product line includes various WaterStop models, featuring connection sizes of ½ inch, ¾ inch, and 1 inch. Ajax officially supplies WaterStop with shut-off valves in these three sizes.
Automatic Water Shut-Off in Case of a Leak
The combination of LeaksProtect and WaterStop enables an automated solution for leak prevention.
When LeaksProtect detects water, an Ajax automation scenario can trigger the WaterStop to shut off the water supply.
This means a user does not first have to be on-site to turn off the main valve.
This can be particularly useful for locations that are regularly unattended, such as commercial buildings, warehouses, utility rooms, or vacation homes.
Water Protection as Part of the Ajax System
A key advantage is that water detection can be integrated into the same Ajax environment as the other security components.
This allows installers to combine the following, among other things, into a single system:
- burglary detection;
- fire detection;
- water detection;
- automation;
- sirens;
- control and notifications.
Status and events can be monitored from the Ajax software, depending on the hub and configuration used.
Remote Control of WaterStop
Ajax WaterStop can be controlled remotely via the Ajax app, as long as the Ajax system is online.
This allows a user to check the position of the shut-off valve and open or close the water supply without being physically present at the installation.
In addition to leak alarms, Ajax supports various automation scenarios, such as actions based on a schedule or other events within the system.
Wireless Installation
LeaksProtect communicates with a compatible Ajax hub via the secure Jeweller radio protocol. WaterStop also uses Jeweller to communicate with the control panel.
This allows both components to become part of a wireless Ajax system.
As with any wireless security system, range, obstacles, and the hub’s location must be taken into account during installation.

If the system also needs to be able to automatically shut off the water supply in the event of a leak, LeaksProtect can be combined with WaterStop.

- where leaks need to be detected;
- how many LeaksProtect detectors are needed;
- where the main water line will be shut off;
- what size shut-off valve is needed;
- which Ajax hub will be used;
- which automation scenarios are desired.
This allows water detection to be designed as a fully integrated part of the security system.
