UPS Emergency Power
UPS Backup Power for Security and Network Systems
JBN Security Systems supplies professional UPS systems for camera security, network equipment, and other critical installations to security installers, system integrators, and business customers.
A UPS, or Uninterruptible Power Supply, can temporarily continue to supply power to connected equipment in the event of a power outage. This can be particularly important for NVR recorders, PoE switches, routers, network equipment, and other security components that must remain operational during a brief power outage.
Within this category, you’ll find both line-interactive and online UPS systems, in various power ratings and models.
Line-Interactive and Online UPS
A line-interactive UPS is suitable for applications where protection against short power outages and voltage fluctuations is desired.
An online UPS continuously powers the connected equipment via its internal inverter and is often used in installations where the most stable possible output voltage and minimal interruption are critical.
Our current product line includes, among others:
- 600VA / 360W UPS systems;
- 800VA / 480W UPS systems;
- 1000VA UPS systems;
- 1500VA / 1350W online UPS;
- 2000VA / 1800W online UPS;
- 3000VA / 2700W online UPS.
This category includes both compact models and rack/tower versions.
UPS for NVRs and PoE switches
In camera security systems, a UPS can be used, for example, to keep an NVR, PoE switch, and network router operational during a brief power outage.
A possible setup is:
mains power → UPS → NVR + PoE switch + router
The actual backup time depends heavily on the total connected power and the battery capacity of the selected UPS.
Therefore, when selecting a UPS, pay attention to:
- power in VA;
- maximum power in watts;
- total load of the connected equipment;
- UPS type;
- number of outputs;
- battery capacity;
- desired backup time;
- rack- or tower-mounted installation.
UPS Backup for Network Equipment
A UPS can also be useful for network equipment.
Consider, for example:
- routers;
- switches;
- PoE switches;
- gateways;
- network controllers;
- recorders;
- access control or alarm equipment.
By connecting critical network components to a UPS, a system can remain accessible longer during a brief power outage.
Hikvision and Safire UPS Systems
The JBN product line currently includes Hikvision and Safire UPS systems, among others.
This category includes, for example, Hikvision models such as the DS-UPS600-R/EU and DS-UPS1000-R/EU, as well as various Safire line-interactive and online models.
In addition, rack/tower versions are available for professional installations in server or network cabinets.
How do I choose the right UPS?
To select the right UPS, you must first determine the total power consumption of the connected equipment.
An installation with, for example, an NVR, a PoE switch, and multiple PoE-powered cameras can consume significantly more power than just a recorder and a router.
Therefore, don’t just look at the VA rating, but also—and especially—at the maximum wattage and the desired runtime.
